iPad in Education March 28

This article was interesting because it talked about several of the issues in the separate articles I have posted plus added some new dimensions.  Looks like on-line learning will become more of the norm.

  1. I love the comment in the article, "Educators are eager to break students free from of the nap-inducing prison of concrete lecture halls."

  2. I think that one of the great educational benefits of the iPad is that it reaches all the different types of learning methods. Whether you are visual, tactile, auditory, etc....they have an app for that!

  3. I agree, Jill! I think the iPad could be a great asset to every classroom. This article points out how this can take our students to a new level. If only they were avialable to all of our students!

  4. I like the idea of having chat sessions with students who may have questions about homework or about the class lecture.
It would be wonderful if all of my students had access to ipad on a daily basis. Today in class I was reviewing the countries of the middle east on a website that I want the kids to use at home. Only half of the students in the class had internet access or a working computer at home.

  5. Sharon, I do believe that ipads would be beneifical for many reasons. I especially like the idea that schools with overcrowded classrooms could ease the pressure" by permitting exploratory research in museums, at gardens, or public libraries. With real-time communication, specific class times could still be maintained, so that all students are learning together for at least some period of the day."

  6. There are so many uses. Alone this week I was able to do some of my posts on our classroom Ning site with my iPad along with making posts and reading from the Black Board Lesley site for another class I am taking. All this done using my iPad. I have to admit that I did purchase the bluetooth wireless keyboard to speed up the typing process. Even without the keyboard, I am able to do so much. I could see iPad being used within schools. I know that some school are already beginning a one to one ratio with the use of iPads or some schools are starting to use a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to school due to the budget cuts we are seeing.

  7. I wish the county would agree to having iPads in the school. It would be interesting to know what a difference it would make in their education. We wouldn't have to worry about enough classroom computers for every child.
